This 19th Century Joseph Green & Nephew Mortise Machine was manufactured at Globe Iron Works in Leeds, first advertised in print around the late 1870’s. The Globe Iron Works were originally established in 1846 and were in business by 1877 when its principal, Joseph Green, brought nephew James Green Hirst into the business. Three years earlier the two men were co-inventors on a new patent mortising machine, one of which now lies amid our extensive collection of reclaimed curiosities.
